Description
Sd.Kfz.260/261 Kleine Panzerfunkwagen - German armored radio communication vehicles from World War II. The cart was 4.8 meters long and 1.95 meters wide. The drive was provided by a single 75 hp Horch engine, which allowed a maximum off-road speed of 85 km/h. Vehicles of this type had no permanent armament. Sd.Kfz.260 / 261 Kleine Panzerfunkwagen machines were developed on the basis of Sd.Kfz.223 armored cars and from the very beginning were specialized versions of radio communication vehicles. The Sd.Kfz.260 car had a short-range radio station, and the Sd.Kfz.261 had a long-range one. Both vehicles were equipped with folding frame antennas for their radios, but were unarmed. True, the first cars of this type were built back in 1937, but mass production began only in 1941 at the factories in Ritscher and Weserhüt. In total, about 500 Sd.Kfz.260 / 261 vehicles were built. Vehicles of this type were used mainly in the signal units of armored divisions and armored grenadiers.
