British cruiser tank A15 Mk. VI - Crusader - was one of the first British cruiser tanks in World War II, more than 5,000 were produced. Crusader Mk. I enlisted in 1941 and quickly found myself too lightly armored and under-armed. Mk. Version II had thicker armor, and the final version Mk.III was upgraded with a 6-pounder (57 mm) gun instead of the previously used 2-pounder (40 mm). The Mk.III version went well with the German Pz. III and Pz. IV are found in North Africa. Crusader tanks were only used in combat there, playing a vital role during the Battle of El Alamein. After the African campaign, the Crusader chassis was used to create variants of anti-aircraft vehicles, fire support, surveillance, communications, bulldozers and recovery vehicles.
