Leopard 2 (Ukrainian: Леопард 2) is a German main battle tank of the third generation. Developed by Krauss-Maffei in the 1970s, it entered service in 1979 to replace the previous Leopard 1 as the main tank of the West German ground forces.
Since the summer of 2023, tanks of the Leopard 2A6 modification have been in service with units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They take an active part in the battles in the east and north-east of Ukraine. Some of them undergo a certain modification due to the specifics of modern hostilities.
