The self-propelled mortar system 2C23 "Nona-SVK" was developed in the late 80s. It is a variant of the tracked 2C9 Nona-S, which was created for the Soviet airborne assault divisions. The 2C23 Nona-SVK was specially developed for the Soviet motorized infantry and uses an 8x8 wheeled chassis. The first serial machines were delivered in 1990. This artillery system was exported to Venezuela. This mortar system can be used as a mortar or howitzer, firing direct or indirect fire. The maximum firing range of conventional projectiles is 8.85 km, rocket projectiles are 12.8 km, and mines are 7.15 km. Additional armament consists of a remote-controlled 7.62 mm machine gun mounted on the top of the roof.
