The T-55 is a Soviet main battle tank during the Cold War. The first prototypes of this machine were built in 1956-1957, and mass production in the USSR began in 1958 and continued until 1981. In its course, about 27,500 machines of this type were created - only in the Soviet Union! The combat weight of the tank was up to 36 tons. The drive was provided by a single V-55 engine with an HP 580 power. The main armament was a 100 mm D-10T2 tank gun mod. 1944, secondary armament was a 7.62 mm SGMT machine gun and a 12.7 mm DShK machine gun.
