CA-1 Schneider is a French infantry tank of the First World War. The first French tank and one of the first serial tanks in the world, was created as an analogue of the first English Mark I tanks, however, unlike them, it used the chassis of the Holt tractor. From the point of view of later design thinking, the CA-1 Schneider, like the contemporary Saint-Chamonix tank, were more likely assault-class self-propelled guns than full-fledged tanks.
The tank was produced in several series and participated in the fighting in the second half of World War I, where it proved to be a rather unsuccessful vehicle.
