T-34-85 is a Soviet medium tank of the period of the German-Soviet War. Adopted into service with the Red Army by Resolution of the State Defense Committee No. 5020 ss, dated January 23, 1944.
It is the final modification of the T-34 tank of the 1943 model. The new, spacious, three-seat gun turret was developed using structural and technological solutions implemented in the experimental T-43 tank. The installation of a more powerful 85-mm gun, in combination with a number of design improvements, significantly increased the combat effectiveness of the T-34-85 tank, compared to its predecessor, the T-34-76.
