The KV-3 (also known as the Object 223) is a Soviet experimental heavy tank of the KV family. It all started with the fact that during 1940, active work was carried out to improve the armor and armament of KV-type tanks. The first direction led to the creation of the T-150 prototype - it was this machine with armor reinforced to 90 mm and a V-5 engine, but with the same weapons, that was supposed to replace the conventional KV-1 in 1941. They even managed to reserve the designation KV-3 for it.
