In 1939, Renault began designing cabover trucks of the AH series for the French army. One of them was the AHN truck with a carrying capacity of 3.5 tons. This truck was equipped with a 6 cyl. engine and had only rear-wheel drive. Production began in March 1941 under the control of the German occupation administration.
AHN trucks were widely used in all branches of the German armed forces until the end of the war everywhere - on the Soviet-German front, in Italy and France.
In total, about 4,000 AHN trucks were produced between 1941 and 1944. Some of them had shelters and were used as ambulances.
