"Kontakt-1" (GRAU Index - 4S20) is a complex of explosive dynamic protection (DZ) of the first generation, created in 1982 in the Soviet Union by the forces of the Steel Research Institute together with other enterprises. Adopted for service with the Soviet Army in 1985. Protection is installed on various tanks of the T-55, T-62, T-64, T-72, T-80 and other families. Modularity allows you to easily install DZ in the field, in particular, to strengthen the weak points of existing tanks.
In 1988, its successor, "Kontakt-5", was adopted for service.
