Multi-purpose aircraft of the Luftwaffe during the Second World War. One of the most versatile aircraft of the war: used as a bomber, fast bomber, reconnaissance, torpedo bomber, night fighter and as part of a flying bomb in the Mistel project. During the first flight, the prototype Ju 88 V-1, which had the civil number D-AQEN, reached a speed of 580 km / h, which was higher than most fighters of that time. Hermann Göring, head of the Luftwaffe, was delighted. The fifth prototype set the record by flying a 1,000 km circle with 2,000 kg of payload on board at an average speed of 517 km/h. However, after satisfying all Luftwaffe requests, including the possibility of dive bombing, the maximum speed dropped to 450 km / h.
