Douglas TBD Devastator (English Douglas TBD Devastator, "Devastator") is an American three-seat deck torpedo bomber and bomber.
Created at the Douglas Aircraft Company under the leadership of Frank Fleming. The first flight of the XTBD-1 prototype took place on April 15, 1935. Serial production began in 1937. Since October of the same year, it began to be used from aircraft carriers. A total of 130 aircraft were produced (in addition to the prototype, two batches of serial machines were released: in 1937, the first batch of 114 aircraft was ordered; in 1938, to replenish operational losses, a second batch of 14 machines was ordered).
