The Type 94 wedge design was based on the famous Carden-Loyd design and entered service with the Imperial Japanese Army in 1935. Wedges of this type were supposed to serve as reconnaissance vehicles, but in fact were also used as tractors (including ammunition trailers). or infantry support. Type 94 wedges were used during the Second Sino-Japanese War, the Battles of Khalkhin Gol and World War II. These tanks were effective against Chinese forces, but their armor was too weak for the conditions of the Pacific War.
