IDF Centurion Shot Meteor - In 1958, the Israelis were equipped with obsolete re-armed M50-51 Shermans and light AMX-13s, but no modern MBTs. They approached the British government for a session of used Centurion Mark IIIs and Mark Vs, around 390 in total. However, they were modified locally to local specifications quite quickly, earning the name 'Sho't'. British Centurions, first delivered in the late 1950s, were renamed "Sho't" ("whip" or "whip"), modified and modernized soon after they were acquired. This started with the Mark III and Mark.V still fitted with 20-pounder main guns and converted to the new locally produced 105mm gun based on the British ROF L7 as soon as it became available.
