The BT-5 wheeled and tracked tank with a cylindrical turret was an early version of the Soviet light tank, developed in the 1930s. This tank belonged to the BT family (high-speed tanks), which combined good maneuverability on tracked stilts with high speed on a wheelbase.
The BT-5 with a cylindrical turret was the predecessor of the more famous and developed BT-7. It was developed and adopted in the 1930s and was used in various military conflicts such as the Soviet-Finnish War. However, by the beginning of World War II, most BT-5s were already obsolete and were gradually replaced by more modern tank models
