The BT-2 was the first tank of the BT series, which entered service with the Red Army in 1932. It had high speed and maneuverability, which made it excellent for operational maneuver warfare, which was relevant in those days. However, the BT-2's armor was relatively light, making it vulnerable to anti-tank weapons.
By the time World War II began, most BT-2s were already obsolete, but they still saw action in the initial battles and played an important role in the initial phases of the war.
