FV-4005 Stage II. For a brief period in the storied history of the Centurion main battle tank (MBT), a heavy-armed self-propelled gun (PSG) variant was used as the FV4005 "Stage 2". This vehicle uses the existing chassis and body superstructure of the Centurion MBT, combined with a fully enclosed 360-degree rotating turret that houses the 183mm (7.2in) Howitzer main gun (7.2in BL Field Howitzer). The Centurion was fitted with a 183mm gun (self-loading) in a turret-less limited turn and this became the FV4005 "Stage 1" - both forms were related to the earlier FV4004 "Conway" which attempted to mount the Centurion gun with a 120mm gun L1, which was used during the development of the FV214 Conquerer heavy tank.
