SU-122 is a Soviet self-propelled artillery installation (SAU) of the 1950s. In the literature, it is often designated as SU-122-54 to distinguish it from the self-propelled guns of the Great Patriotic War period with the same name. It was created taking into account the T-54 medium tank in 1948-1951. It was primarily intended for the role of an assault weapon, but sometimes in the literature it is classified as a tank destroyer. Large-scale production of the SU-122 was planned, but since 1957 its production was stopped due to the reorientation of the military industry to the creation of missile weapons.
