The Sturmgeschütz III, often abbreviated to StuG III, was one of the most successful German tank guns of World War II. It was designed as a self-propelled artillery unit designed to support infantry and destroy armored targets.
The main armament of the StuG III was the 75 mm StuK 40 L/48 cannon, which was a well-proven gun with excellent ballistic characteristics and high penetration power. The StuG III was based on the Panzer III tank chassis, but its design was modified to provide a lower profile and increased armor.
