Marder II (Sd. Kfz.131 or 132; trans. "marten", tr. "Мардер") or the full official name "7.5 cm РаК 40/2 auf Fgst Pz Kpfw II Ausf А-F" is a German light 75 -mm anti-tank self-propelled gun of the Second World War, developed on the basis of the Panzer II light tank.
Appeared thanks to the adoption of the Wehrmacht 75-mm anti-tank gun PaK 40 mounted on the chassis of the Pz.II A light tank.
It was successfully used mainly on the Eastern Front from the beginning of the summer of 1942 until the end of the war.
"Marder II" machines were the main armament of tank destroyer divisions (German: Panzerjager Abteilung) on the Eastern and Western fronts, in North Africa and in Italy.
