Leopard C2 is a Canadian main battle tank, which is essentially a deep modernization of the German Leopard 1. These combat vehicles received changes in 2000, a total of 114 units were modernized.
The main distinguishing feature of the new Leopards is the combined armor of the modular design MEXAS (Modular Expandable Armor System), which is a ceramic layer glued together with a layer of organoplastic based on Kevlar fibers.
Canadian Leopard C2 tanks with MEXAS armor were successfully tested in combat conditions during the war in Afghanistan.
