BTR-60, (BTR-60P; P here is "floating") is a Soviet wheeled armored personnel carrier.
It was created in 1956-1959 to equip motorized rifle units and replace their outdated BTR-152, from which it was distinguished by significantly improved cross-country ability (wheel formula 8x8 compared to 6x6), which allowed it to follow tanks on the battlefield, and the ability to swim. The BTR-60PB armored personnel carrier is similar to the previous BTR-60PA model, but has a single turret with a manual drive, the same as the BRDM-2 machine and the Czech OT-64 armored personnel carrier, which was used by Poland under the designation SKOT-2A.
