BTR-60, (BTR-60P; P here is "floating") is a Soviet wheeled armored personnel carrier.
It was created in 1956-1959 to equip motorized rifle units and replace their outdated BTR-152, from which it was distinguished by significantly improved cross-country ability (wheel formula 8x8 compared to 6x6), which allowed it to follow tanks on the battlefield, and the ability to swim. This BTR-60P model in production soon gave way to the BTR-60 PA armored personnel carrier with a fully enclosed landing compartment, capable of carrying no more than 16 soldiers, although the normal load is 12 people.
The BTR-60PA armored personnel carrier is usually armed with a 7.62-mm machine gun mount
