The M1129 Mortar Carrier, also known as the MCV-B (Mortar Carrier Vehicle version B), is based on the Stryker armored personnel carrier, itself a descendant of the Swiss Mowag Piranha III.
The M1129's predecessor, the MCV-A, carried a mortar that could only be used on foot, while the M1129 is fully capable of firing from a fixed position inside the vehicle.
