T-74 (GBTU Index - Object 450) - Soviet main battle tank project.
The T-74 main battle tank was developed on an initiative basis at the Kharkov Malyshev Plant. The chief designer of the tank was O.O. Morozov. Initially, the project had the internal factory designation "Topic 101". On May 26, 1972, O.O. Morozov made a report on the project of the new T-74 main tank. Later, the project was assigned the GBTU index - "Object 450". On July 31, 1971, by order of the Ministry of Defense Industry, the development of a preliminary design for the "Object 450" was officially assigned. However, due to the complexity and high cost of developing the machine, work on the "Object 450" was suspended.
