ZIS-151 is an off-road truck. The ZIS-151 uses components and assemblies from the Soviet post-war ZIS-150. Initially, it was proposed to produce a two-axle all-wheel drive version of the ZIS-150 - the ZIS-150P. However, later it was decided to produce a three-axle car. The first test models had a hood, wings and cabin similar to the ZIS-150. The production car received a new design that was more convenient for an off-road vehicle. The first releases of the car (before 1949) had a wooden (stamped plywood) cabin. The subsequent releases (after 1949) had a steel cabin, but it was somewhat smaller.
