In 1915, Chief Warrant Officer L. Gutteridge developed a special design for an RNAS (Royal Navy Air Service) armored vehicle on a Model T Ford chassis.
A total of nine armored Model Ts were built by W.G. Allen & Sons of Tipton, six of which are known to have gone to the factory in Russia. They served with British crews as light reconnaissance units on the Caucasian and Romanian fronts from June to September 1916.
