Einheits-PKWs were supplied to the Wehrmacht between 1936 and 1943 in three versions: Leichter Einheits-PKW, Mittlerer Einheits-PKW and Schwerer Einheits-PKW (light, medium and heavy cars). These vehicles were to replace the civilian vehicles previously acquired by the Reichswehr with off-road mobile vehicles that met military requirements, simplifying logistics and maintenance through the use of standardized components.
