The US Army Liberty trucks, released at the end of World War I, were the world's first attempt to create a standardized range of military vehicles, mass-produced by several companies from standardized units.
The most famous were the Category B (Series 1) vehicles with a carrying capacity of 3 tons, which were produced by 15 American companies from the beginning of 1918. These were bonnet trucks with an open cabin, equipped with a 4-cylinder engine, a cardan drive of the rear axle with a worm gear and cast tires.
By the end of the war, 9,452 Liberty trucks had been produced, of which 7,600 were shipped to Europe.
