In December 1939, the North-Western Command of the Red Army asked Factory No. 185 to develop a vehicle based on the T-100.
The machine was supposed not only to work as a self-propelled gun, but also to be used for building bridges, transporting explosives and lifting tanks destroyed or damaged on the battlefield.
During the development of this vehicle, ABTU suggested fitting a large, high-velocity 152mm cannon to the T-100 to enable it to destroy bunkers and other powerful fixed fortifications.

The director of factory #185 proposed to stop developing the prototype and use the T-100 as a self-propelled gun armed with 100 and 130 mm naval guns.
