This is the English version of the book ABT758.
Limited edition. Half-tracks represented the concept of mechanized infantry during World War II. We can also find older examples where firepower was combined with mobility, such as the classic Dragon, which appeared in the 16th century, or, even better, the French Dragons portés, which also used the vehicles under study. However, the main supporters of this idea were the German and American armies, and the Germans had a much wider selection of models of half-tracks, specially designed to perform certain functions. Despite this, they did not last beyond the beginning of the second half of the 20th century, perhaps due to the difficulty of their maintenance, limited armor, and the vulnerability of the cargo compartment.
