ZIL-131 was the main all-terrain truck of the Soviet Army in the 70-80s. Its serial production began in 1967. This truck was distinguished by its high reliability and cross-country ability.
The basic model was used mainly as a personnel carrier or a 5-ton truck.
A lot of special vehicles were built on the ZIL-131 chassis, both for the army and for civilian use.
One of them was a fire engine. The AC-40-137A modification was produced by the Priluki Fire Equipment Plant since 1984. It differed by a 100-liter larger tank and control of the fire monitor from the cabin. Trucks of this type are still widely used in fire departments of the former USSR countries.
