Viking Ship

From the end of the 8th century, Vikings who came from Scandinavia made regular appearances in Britain and on the European mainland with their raiding boats. These ocean-going battleships, approximately 20 meters long, had a front and rear bow so that they could enter or exit in any direction. With a shallow draft of almost 1.50 meters, the Vikings were also able to swim or row the rivers and thus raid areas inland. The Vikings advanced as far as Iceland, Greenland, and even North America in battleships, also known as dragons, which were fast and agile at around 20 knots, as evidenced by settlement finds.
