HMS Belfast was a British Town-class light cruiser (subclass Belfast), one of 10 cruisers of this type in the Royal Navy during World War II.
Named after Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland. It is a museum ship (a branch of the Imperial War Museum, being permanently moored in central London on the River Thames, near Tower Bridge.
In the first half of the 20th century, the cruiser became an important tool for pursuing colonial policy, serving both to protect its own trade routes and to attack enemy communications, as well as to support the actions of ships of other classes. During World War II, he took part in the sinking of the German battleship Scharnhorst and in the Northern convoys.
