Tone-class heavy cruisers (Japanese: 利根型重巡洋艦 Tonegata jujunyokan) were a series of two Japanese cruisers of the 1930s.

A reconnaissance version of the Mogami-class cruisers, created specifically for operation as part of aircraft carrier formations. They had all 4 main caliber turrets concentrated in the bow and developed aviation weapons. In 1934, orders were issued for two units, which were named "Tone" and "Chikuma" and were built in 1934-1939 by the Mitsubishi shipyard in Nagasaki.

Both ships took an active part in combat operations in the Pacific Theater of World War II. "Tikuma" was lost during the battle of Leyte Gulf on October 25, 1944, "Tone" was sunk by American aircraft at Etajima on July 24, 1945, and was la
