Bell V-22 Osprey (from English osprey - osprey) is an American tiltrotor. The only mass-produced tiltrotor, it was developed in the USA for more than 30 years by Bell. It is in service with the US Marine Corps, US Navy and US Air Force.
Flight tests of the new aircraft began on March 19, 1989. Already in September, the Osprey successfully demonstrated the transformation from a helicopter to an airplane during flight. However, in 1990, funding for the program was practically stopped. It was decided to equip only the US Marine Corps with these vehicles, but here, too, the initial order was reduced to 300 vehicles in mid-1992.
