The H-3 Sea King is an American submarine hunter (AS) helicopter designed and built by Sikorsky Aircraft. Outstanding in design was that it became the world's first amphibious helicopter and one of the first turboshaft-powered submarine hunters.
Introduced in 1961, it became the key submarine hunter helicopter of the US Navy and was used for several decades until replaced by the non-amphibious Sikorsky SH-60 Seahawk in the 1990s. These helicopters were also popular in civil service and with foreign military users. As of 2015, the helicopter remained in service in many countries around the world. The Sea King was built under license by Agusta in Italy, Mitsubishi in Japan, and Westland in the United Kingdo
