Description
The development of the helicopter has been carried out since the late 1980s by the Eurocopter consortium (currently Airbus Helicopters). On October 15, 1988, technological prototype No. D-HBOX made its first flight, powered by a pair of Rolls-Royce 250-C20R engines. On February 15 and 16, 1994, pre-production helicopters No. D-HECX and No. D-HECY with Turbomeca Arrius 2B and Pratt & Whitney Canada PW206B engines, respectively, made their first flight.
Serial production began in 1996. By 2008, more than 650 helicopters had been delivered. Helicopters are widely used, in particular, they are used in the Polish air ambulance service Lotnicze Pogotowie Ratunkowe.
Built using composite materials. Produced in several modifications.
