In 1981, the MiG-25RBK aircraft were put on modernization. The Kub-3M RT intelligence station was replaced with a more efficient Shar-25 detailed electronic intelligence station, in addition, a new generation of avionics was used. Panoramic AFAs were installed. The upgraded aircraft was named the MiG-25RBF.
It was created in 1980, passed the state tests in 1981. Previously produced MiG-25RBK aircraft were modified according to the MiG-25RBF type.
