Dornier Do 215 (German: Dornier Do 215) is a German twin-engine all-metal aircraft developed by Dornier, which was produced on the basis of the Do 17 for export, however, it operated mainly as part of the Luftwaffe units, as a light bomber, reconnaissance aircraft and later a night fighter during World War II. Since the beginning of 1939, Do 17Z aircraft were produced with a new Waffenkopf type nose and Bramo 323 Fafnir air-cooled engines.
In 1940, 9 Do 17Z-10 Kauz 11 night fighters were produced. These heavily armed aircraft were fitted with Spanner-Anlage infrared night vision devices. They served in the night fighter unit 11/NJG 1 until early 1941.
