Since the appearance of the Su-15, work on its improvement has not stopped. Since December 1971, which was marked by the adoption of the more advanced TYPHOON-M radar, the Su-15T underwent serious modifications and partial modifications, the modified aircraft was named the Su-15TM. On previous Su-15 aircraft, the radar antenna was covered with a conical casing, but this was not suitable for the powerful TYPHOON-M engine. Therefore, the Su-15TM has a slightly egg-shaped nose, which increases space and better meets the needs of on-board electronic equipment and aerodynamics. In addition to this improvement, the Su-15TM is also equipped with the SAU-58-2 system, thanks to which the aircraft can automatically accompany and attack targets at a low altitude of 200 meters.
