JAS 39 Gripen (Swedish: Gripen - griffin) is a fourth-generation Swedish multi-role fighter designed and manufactured by Saab.
Work on the plane began in 1979, and in 1988 the plane took off for the first time. On November 1, 1997, the JAS 39 was officially adopted by the Swedish Air Force. The fighter was exported to the Czech Republic, Hungary, the Republic of South Africa and Thailand, and Brazil also decided to purchase the JAS 39.
The Swedish "Gripens" participated in the international military operation in Libya, during which they patrolled the airspace and conducted reconnaissance.
