Yak-1 is a Soviet single-engine fighter aircraft of World War II. The first combat aircraft developed by the Design Bureau under the direction of Alexander Sergeyevich Yakovlev as an experimental fighter I-26. After the completion of State Tests, it was accepted into serial production under the Yak-1 brand. It was produced from 1940 to 1944; a total of 8734 aircraft of all modifications were built.
The Normandy-Niemen squadron entered the war on the Yak-1.
