Focke-Wulf Fw.190 (German: Focke-Wulf Fw.190 "Würger" - a magpie, a small bird of prey) - a German single-seat single-engine piston monoplane fighter that was in service with the Luftwaffe during World War II. The Fw.190 was successfully used in various roles, in particular as a high-altitude interceptor (especially the Fw.190D), an escort fighter, an attack aircraft, a night fighter and proved to be a real "workhorse" of the Luftwaffe.
Inside the Focke-Wulf company, the aircraft type was given the names of birds as an additional description. The Fw.190 was named after him. "Würger" - "Magpie" (a small bird of prey).
