British biplane fighter, was in service with the Royal Air Force, the Royal Navy and the Air Force of many other countries in the late 30s. The last biplane fighter in service with the Royal Air Force. Combat use of aircraft began during the French campaign. Aircraft were also used in the Norwegian operation. They took part in the defense of Malta. The last three remaining fighters were named "Faith, Hope and Charity" (Faith, Hope and Mercy) and, according to the British, opposed the entire Italian Air Force. They were also actively used in battles in North Africa.
