Ilyushin Il-2 (Cyrillic: Ilyushin Il-2) Shturmovik (Cyrillic: Shturmovik, Shturmovik) is a Shturmovik produced by the Soviet Union in large numbers during World War II. The IL-2 never received an official name, and shturmovik is the common Russian word for stormtrooper. The word also occurs in Western sources like Stormovik and Sturmovik, neither of which gives the correct pronunciation in English.
