Messerschmitt Me262 "Swallow" was the world's first combat jet fighter. Officially called "Swallow", and the allies called it "Thunderbird". Me262 had little effect on the course of World War II. Its design had a great influence on the post-war development of aircraft. The first test flight was planned in 1941. In April 1944, it was put into service. As a result, a little more than 1400 Me 262 of all modifications were produced.
