The Rooikat is a wheeled armored fighting vehicle built in South Africa for the South African Army. It was designed for combat reconnaissance and search and destroy operations.
Its secondary functions include combat support, anti-tank and anti-guerrilla operations.
The Rooikat is designed for deep penetration missions, so a wheeled design was needed for speed and to counter sandy desert conditions that could slow down tracked vehicles.
