The T-80 is a main battle tank (MBT) designed and built in the former Soviet Union. As a development of the T-64, it entered service in 1976 and became the first mass-produced tank equipped with a gas turbine engine of the main power plant. The T-80U was last produced at the plant in Omsk, Russia, while the T-80UD and the improved T-84 continue to be built in Ukraine. The T-80 and its variants are in service with Belarus, Cyprus, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Russia, South Korea and Ukraine.
