T-44 is a Soviet medium tank. It was created in 1943-1944 on the KB-520 in evacuation under the leadership of Oleksandr Morozov and was intended to replace the T-34 as the main medium tank of the Russian Army. Despite the significant external similarity with the T-34-85, structurally the T-44 had little in common with it and was a representative of a qualitatively new generation of tanks, to which the post-war T-54 belonged.
